Philadelphia was and continues to be a center for mid-century modern art, architecture and design. Well known mid-century architects such as Louis Kahn were based in Philadelphia and mid-century artists such as George Nakashima and Harry Bertoia worked in the area. Their works are now in great demand with record high prices .
